Bangert Island
The main objective of this study was to determine what conditions maximize the chance for a re-opened Bangert Island Side Channel to avoid closure due to deposition. These conditions will also be evaluated as to their effect on the navigation channel, I-70 (Blanchette) Bridge, Ameristar Casino, and other river structures. USACE personnel believe that a re-opened side channel would have valuable fish and wildlife habitat benefits.
