Moro Chute HSR Model - Additional Test Results

Test 1 - Three Notched Dikes and Closure Structure Angled Upstream

There were no significant bathymetry changes in the main channel between RM 122.50 and 121.50 and the side channel at Dike 121.10L. However, the bar against Moro Island grew slightly between RM 122.00 and 121.00. See Figure 1 below.

Figure - Test 1 - Three Notched Dikes and Closure Structure Angled Upstream

Figure 1: Replication vs. Test 1

Pile Dike 122.10L - 300 feet Notch (600 feet away from Moro Island)

Dike 121.90L - 200 feet Notch (360 feet away from Moro Island)

Dike 121.70L - 200 feet Notch (360 feet away from Moro Island)

Closure Structure 121.10L - Removed

Dike 121.10L - New Construction

Test 2 - Two Notched Dikes and Closure Structure Angled Upstream

There were no significant bathymetry changes in the main channel between RM 122.50 and 121.50 and the side channel at Dike 121.10L. See Figure 2 below.

Closure Structure 121.10L - Removed

Dike 121.10L - New Construction

Test 3 - Two Rootless Dikes, Two Shortened Dikes and Closure Structure Angled Upstream

Scouring occurred between notched dikes and shallowing (slightly) occured at the crossing between RM 122.50 and RM 121.50. Figure - Test 3 - Two Rootless Dikes, Two Shortened Dikes and Closure Structure Angled Upstream

Dike 121.10L - New Construction

Test 4 - Two Rootless Dikes, Two Shortened Dikes, and Closure Structure Angled Upstream

Scour occured at the noched dikes and the LDB between RM 122.50 and RM 121.50. Shallowing (slightly) occured at the crossing between RM 122.50 and RM 121.50. See Figure 4 below.
